The Shoe Inn, Plaitford - CANCELLED
Hi everyone - I'm afraid barrington has been dropped from the Shoe Inn gig rotations. Apparently our new style isn't going down to well which is a shame as we met loads of new friends last time we played there and they seemed to enjoy it. Thank you to everyone who has ever come to see us play here, and to Aart and Jeni for putting us on regularly over the last 2 years. Needless to say we're really devastated but at least we (hopefully) have a new regular acoustic venue at The Dolphin in Southampton.

A must see night - you're in for something really special!

Friday 27th Feb 2004
The Shoe Inn, Plaitford, Near Romsey, UK
The Shoe inn beckons the young pugnacious barrington acoustic duo back into its comfortable surroundings... like an old well loved shoe............ hang on a minute.. that must be where the name comes from!! The owner of the establishment on shoe road, Mr Shoe told me that him and his wife named the pub after their son... the renowned cobbler Peter Shoe.... but its not called the Peter inn so maybe they were having some sort of Joke? I maybe should have guessed something was a foot...Honestly I'm just so gullible... still I'm sure the wound will heel. If you do pop along I would recommend the lemon sole for a main course and possibly the Chou pastry for pudding... both delicious........ I know it's a bit cheeky 'shoe horning' in an advert like that... but it's just such a nice place. Looking forward to seeing you there, acoustic night, music from 9pm, no charge.

Wednesday 25th Feb 2004
The Joiners Arms, Southampton UK

Check out his version of Dave Matthews 'Crash' as well as a load new acoustic stuff by Alex in that strange tuned guitar. Our first barrington gig at the Dolphin in what will hopefully turn out to be a regular event if we go down well. Great pub, great atmosphere and strange little cubby holes all over the shop. Free entry! Music from 9pm

The Coopers Arms, Pewsey, Wiltshire
Another steamy night in Pewsey. Possibly the smallest but most friendliest place we play - certainly the best paid! Always good to see Lee (co-writer of Runaway and many other old songs), although how he'll take the news we no longer do runaway I'm not too sure. He'll forgive us! Free entry, music from 9 till 11.30.

Thursday 24th Apr 2003
Regional Semi Final for the Emeregenza Festival - The Nexus Club, Southampton

Regional semi final!!!! what!!! This sounds as exciting as the FA cup!!!! - Well that’s what you should be saying because barrington will be wowing the crowd with another collection of their greatest hits........ Don't think it's gonna be thats easy though. The competition is a stiff as Adam's stethoscope and as hot as Jon's super insulated drumstick cosies. Still we'll give it our best shot....... although if you could make sure to put both arms up during voting, one with the sleeve rolled up just to be cunning then the night might be even more fun.... What am I saying, we could never suggest such disgraceful behaviour, I don't know how those words got on the page, must have been one of those computer virus things. I would change it but I'm scared the virus make take over, jump up out of my CD draw and steal my collection of comedy shaped crisps. Take care kids, see you there with your extra long voting arms on. Love from the barrington massive (and Lennie)

Check out http://www.environmental-rock.co.uk for more info. The event will be on all day from 1pm but we're on at 3pm, so pop down after a later lunch. Come along, enjoy the entertainment and learn how you can do your little bit for the environment!!

Saturday 8th Mar 2003
Legends, Bevois Valley, Southampton
‘Saturday night dance I like the way you move.. pretty baby!!’ And that’s all it took... from that point onwards Alex was under the mind control of a young blonde lady from Argyle.... Who would have thought it, but there you have it. Maggy Mcbloomins has complete and utter control over Alex's every thought. This means that this saturday night, against the better judgement of the band we will be performing at Legends. Hopefully the ceremonial sacrifice of a rubber chicken later tonight at barrington heights will break this accursed spell, but until such time the perilous and often lethally dangerous venues thought up by Maggy will be played by barrington.... Don't get disheartened though. The barrington machine will be in full swing with volume high and hearts a racing. Pop along to legends tonight and see how bravely we face this situation..... Plus of course every person that comes through the door gets a free breath of smoke filled air... how cool is that!!! I suppose it depends if the air conditioning is on.... See you there at 9pm, no entrance fee, no budgies allowed

Tuesday 4th Mar 2003
The Bent Brief, Lodge Road, Southampton
Yet again barrington return to their local haunt that is the Bent Brief. Last time we performed here it was as the two piece band called 'how’s yer father', comprising of Adam Furr on lead guitar and piccolo and Alex Onyett on vocals and insidious cat with a screwdriver (a very difficult instrument to play). As was expected the best part of the evening was when Dr Onyett accidentally cut all power to the PA by flossing his huge buckteeth with the mains cable. This week will be different, hopefully one member of the band who can actually sing will be present and instruments not relying on the suffering of domesticated animals will be in use. This will be barrington at is most average. Get ready everyone, the barrington 'just enough apathy to perform' tour has arrived See you all there 9pm, no entry fee, no dress code, no significant landmarks, no worries man....

Friday 28th Feb 2003
The Coopers Arms, Pewsey, Wiltshire

That’s right people of Wiltshire.... barrington are back!!! Last time we played at the Coopers arms we truly rocked the house!! Of course this sounds impressive until you realise that the house is a 1:20 scale replica of number 42 Pewsey Road cottage and for some reason is balanced in the middle of a see-saw. Still don't let this story of less than epic proportions put you off. The rocking may have been sub standard but the music is always top notch. The Coopers arms offers a selection of mouth watering foods, thirst quenching ales and a friendliness of staff that is only too often missing in today’s world of hustle and bustle. Music kicks off about 9pm, entry is free and the good times are plentiful. See you there!!

Tuesday 18th Feb 2003
The Bent Brief, Lodge Road, Southampton

The bent brief..... Not sure if I can recall much about this venue... it seems like forever since we've played here. As far as I can remember this was the pub where blue cows dance around the mushroom maypole with buttercup soup and bananas for dipping...... Yes that’s it... and the biggest rose bush you ever set eyes on sits in the corner grumbling about the price of ethnic snacks at Safeway’s these days, and even at there highly inflated price they still don't compare to the fresh made treats he sampled when only a tiny bud growing up in India...... I think that’s the place anyway... mind you I have been experimenting with dangerously strong hallucinogens mixed with yoghurt and its left me a little forgetful so I might have that wrong.... Oh well see you there 9pm, lodge road for tunes and fun... of that I'm sure!!

Tuesday 11th Feb 2003
The Bent Brief, Lodge Road, Southampton
The Bent Brief..... Most people think that we are regularly invited back to the bent brief to perform on a fortnightly basis. The sad truth is that in fact Jenny has been taken hostage by the brewery and is being held captive in a very dark and imposing castle in some unpronounceable central European country that used to be called something equally unpronounceable. They send us video footage of her suffering and pain and so we have to do their bidding. Some of the scenes from the videos are quite appalling, for example on the last horrific recording Jenny was forced to watch every episode of crossroads with not a single break for a cup of tea and a biscuit. So as you can see.... the show must go on. Tunes start about 9pm... see you there - for Jens sake?

Saturday 8th Feb 2003
Legends, Bevois Valley, Southampton
This truly legendary venue is the setting for yet another barrington extravaganza!!! Unfortunately health and safety laws do not allow the fireworks or dancing girls that we organised, the maypole would not fit for the maypole dancing fun, the champagne has got lost in transit and the grass skirts we were all going to wear have gone missing....... but still, don get disheartened!! With Lucy's provocative fingering action and Alex's violently reciprocating strumming pattern things always seem to turn out for the best No entry fee and we kick things off around 9pm, see you there.

Friday 7th Feb 2003
The Shoe Inn, Plaitford, nr. Romsey
Love is in the air....... and barrington are right there to gobble it all up and regurgitate the whole lot in sort of a loved up musical mix up thing. Sounds tempting doesn't it!! doesn't it?? Well anyway its free entry, music kicks off about 9pm and the good food and fine ales that we've all grown accustomed to at The Shoe inn will be available as always. See you there, and remember - if you're single the band are all available at the normal rate.

Tuesday 4th Feb 2003
The Bent Brief, Lodge Road, Southampton
The Bent Brief eh!!! Well what can really be said about this venue. For starters its a pub, which means they sell beer, wine and other intoxicating beverages. The clientel are not exclusively briefs (legal types) and the legal types that are present will only display the average demographic levels of bentness. Also they have windows, doors, chairs and tables.... the usual stuff but interestingly enough they have a band on every other Tuesday who don't do any other fortnightly gigs anywhere in the world!!!! impressive eh!!! and the name of this band......... barrington!!! described by my mate Fred as "yer... pretty alright actually.." Why not come along and see them do there thing. Entry is free and the music kicks off about 9pm.

Sunday 2nd Feb 2003
The Thomas Tripp, Christchurch
With its charming features and idyllic views this beautifully presented classically styled public house is perfect for those chilly winter evenings. The inviting interior and tantalising selection of beverages mixed with the helpful bar staff and soothing sounds of barrington means that this will indeed be a night to remember. It’s free to get in, the booze is all right and the birds/blokes are easy. Come and get rat arsed to music. See you there 9pm

Thursday 30th Jan 2003
Winchester Students Union
Winchester is a small sparsely inhabited hamlet just a few miles north of the metropolis home of barrington, Southampton. Apparently they also have students in this quaint backwater retreat. So, just to show that barrington are not all glitz, glamour and coming third place in battle of the bands competitions, we will be doing one of our trademark "making noise all together and at the same time" sets. Should be a good laugh!! Our first gig here. Free entry (if you're a student) and music starts at 9pm

Thursday 23rd Jan 2003
The Joiners Arms, St Marys Street, Southampton

Part One of the Emergenza Band Showcase! Playing alongside the one and only Toupee. We shouldn't really go on about how great these guys are when we're trying to promote ourselves... but oh boy - en-ter-taining. Tickets are 5 pounds but that includes six bands and a chance to support your favourite Southampton Band, Toupee. I mean barrington. We're on at 9pm on the dot for 25 minutes to strut our stuff. Come along! (I hate these things - Alex) Well no one was asking you. for more information about emergenza music go to www.emergenza.net

Saturday 4th Jan 2003
Legends, Bevois Valley, Southampton

HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!! That’s right people its 2003: a barrington odyssey!! We're back from our New Year and Christmas hangovers with a whole new way of breaking all those new years resolutions. So come along and get drinking, eat fatty foods and smoke away....... You’ll probably be prepared to try anything that will block out the view of Alex's grizzly chops. barrington, providing a public service throughout the coming year. Free entry, music from 9pm.

Friday 20th Dec 2002
The Shoe Inn, Plaitford, Near Romsey
Well with Christmas just round the corner this could well be an ideal opportunity to warm your cockles to some alternative barrington style carols. Sit and lament over the wonderful Christian tale of hands of time. Consider the significance of the virgin birth during never said goodbye. Eat a delicious steak washed down with a pint of guest ale during Virginia beach....... I mean !! How much more festive does it get!!! See you there about 9pm. Check their website for more information. http://www.shoeinn.co.uk/

Tuesday 10th Dec 2002
The Bent Brief, Lodge Road, Southampton
The first barrington gig of the festive month.... and what more fitting place to have it than the bent brief. As Santa gets steadily toasted in front of the big screen and Rudolf picks yet another wham track from the jukebox the background din is drawn to attention by the silhouettes of a band in the distance. The stage ignites into a plasma of activity and the onlookers ears are bathed in the beautiful and idyllic sounds of barrington..... Sounds good don't it!!! Well don't expect too much..... see you there say about 9pm

Saturday 7th Dec 2002
The Hobbit, Beovis Valley, Southampton

The Thomas Tripp, Christchurch
In the words of Pete Tong "We continue..." That's right XX and XY chromosome owners its the great barrington album tour!!! Tonight we make our way to the Thomas Tripp in Christchurch.... for those of you that haven't been here..... what are you playing at!! its a top venue with adequate local parking and attractive bar stewards in a quaint village.... what more could you want.. .... for those of you that have been there...... come on it might not be as bad this time... and in any case with such aural wonders as 'Yearbook', 'Two' and 'Hands of Time' captured for the first time ever on a rotating digital media you'd be a fool not to be there...... so there you go Free entry, music kicks off about 9pm and the band will be available for album signings.... that's right they've learnt to write!!

Tuesday 19th Nov 2002
The Air Balloon, Mile End Road, Portsmouth
A new venue for barrington and part of the album tour. As far as any of us can remember we've never played in Porstmouth before..... of course we've all now lost 60% of our higher brain function following a rather disaterous feedback 'experiment'....... so for all we know we could be multi millionaire musicians who have just finished there 8th world tour. If anyone can shed any details on any of this please contact the guy who does all this organising stuff for the band..... does anyone know his name?? what's the band called anyway??

Sunday 17th Nov 2002
The Railway Inn, Winchester
We're kicking off the album tour to celebrate the long awaited release of the 2nd barrington album here in Winchester. A great venue, really good atmosphere and the first chance the general public has to get their grubby little mitts on the all new shiny and obscenely sexy 2nd barrington album. This new album is such a work of genius that there is really only one word that can sum it up......... and as soon as we figure out what that word is we'll let you know!!.... Playing alongside the fantastic acid jazz outfit 'Suspicious Package' and fun indie band 'Koupa' Just 3 pounds entry. Doors at 7.30. Music starts at 8ish and we're on first so we can dance to the other bands!

Saturday 16th Nov 2002
Album Launch Gig
That’s right ladies and gents, the time has officially arrived. The moment that 1000's of people have been waiting for. The moment that will once and for all put barrington on the great hall of fame map. The shining moment in musical history that will at last recognise the true musical genius that nestles deep within the barrington bosom, the absolute pinnacle moment of....... well you get the idea..... Its the launch party for barringtons 2nd album entitled 'Backseat Education' Location: Upstairs at The Home Tavern, Eastleigh, SO50 9SJ. Details: Free entry! BUT you need a ticket, which you can only obtain from us. There is a limited amount so mail us if you want one. This is an invite only one off special evening for dedicated fans and small furry animals. More details to follow and of course everyone on the barrington mailing list will be updated as the event draws closer Looking forward to seeing all the barrington friends and extended family!!

Sunday 10th Nov 2002
The Bent Brief, Lodge Road, Southampton
More fun than a teddy bears picnic!! If you go down to the brief tonight you'd better be in disguise. If you go down to the brief tonight you'll hardly believe your eyes. Cos Barrington, the band not the man. Will entertain you better than flan. Tonights the night that Alex will get the words right. And they reckon we can't write our own material!! See you all there about 9pm.

Tuesday 15th Oct 2002
The Bent Brief, Lodge Road, Southampton
Just to show how good they really are barrington will be playing at the bent brief with no Lucy and no Lennie.... "What.... are these guys crazy?" I hear you say.... .... and actually that’s an interesting point. Alex has been in and out of 'special' institutions for 'special' people ever since he had that nasty bump on the head from a swing-ball bat... Adam uses the left lobe of his brain as a coffee dispenser and Jen believes she is the queen of Atlantis. Recently Nathan has been discussing the benefits of flossing with candyfloss to Lucy.... who insists that British airways pilots are the only ones she lets near her tooth gaps..... and Jon.... well just look at him!! So in summary yes barrington are mad, but the music is uncommonly sane..... so go ahead and treat yourselves to some therapy at the bent brief... say about 9pm.

Tuesday 1st Oct 2002
The Bent Brief, Lodge Road, Southampton
We will be playing limited gigs in October to give us a break before the album launch. The Bent Brief gigs will be the few ones we do and these will be kept strictly acoustic. Free entry and music from 9, check out the new songs, and old ones done in a completely different way...

Saturday 28th Sep 2002
Beech Hall Private Wedding Reception

Private Party. Its a fact, barrington can be hired for private functions. If you're interested then give us a mail and we'll see what we can do. Competative prices, friendly musicians (mostly) and of course a quality product..... the sound guys quite cute as well. Cheers, LennieB (the sound guy)

Friday 20th Sep 2002

Tuesday 17th Sep 2002
The Bent Brief, Lodge Road, Southampton
Tuesday?! That'll be Bent Brief then..... Its really quite incredible that we're back here again after such a short time. They realy must like us or somthing. We honestly thought that at first everyone in the bent brief was being sarcastic; clapping fer all the songs, loving getting requests and buying albums from us..... but it turns out that this enjoyment of barringtons music is genuine..... what d'you know!!! Why not come and check it out?.... Free entry as per norm, music when we start drinking, dare ya!

So the rest of you can come along to the King Alfreds and have a right good time. Things kick off about 9pm and we've got support from the great 'Koupa'. Also there is a rumour that we may get some after show tunes from the amazing DJ Jazzy John (the bald headed wonder mixer), a real treat!! Entry 3 pounds, bar open till 1am...... see you there!!

Tuesday 20th Aug 2002
The Bent Brief, Lodge Road, Southampton
Thats right folks and folkesses!! Once again the Bent Brief [Honk] have invited us back to play another chilled set. I'm quite suprised to be quite honest. See you there for a mellow one, say about 9pm??

Friday 2nd Aug 2002
Legends, Bevois Valley, Southampton
The first gig of August and how apt that it is at Legends, for without doubt the first barrington gig of this joyous month will indeed be legendary !!!! See you there starting about 9pm.

Thursday 2nd May 2002
Tower Records, Southampton
Thanks to Gwen for getting us back again. When asked about there policy of selling records in the shape of a tower we were given a blank look. Maybe we should report them to trading standards for misleading customers. And they don't have any bungalow shaped records either. Two weeks in row... a new record for us. Thats two world records in a week, what with Adam smashing the longest held guitar chord record of 3 years, 7 months, 4 days, 22 hours and 5 minutes. Apparently, all this time hes had one hand in his pocket playing on a minature Les Paul replica.... so that explains it. Free entry! Music starts at 9ish, and you might even get to see Adams tiddler.

Tuesday 9th Apr 2002
The Bent Brief, Lodge Road, Southampton

Tuesday 19th Feb 2002
The Bent Brief, Lodge Road, Southampton
That’s right its Bent Brief day again... Contrary to popular belief Jimmy "the Hat", who makes regular guest appearances at the Bent Brief gigs, is in fact not related to Jackie Chan. This rather ridiculous rumour started after Jimmy was involved in removing Jenny's false teeth using a samurai sword. A skilled dental technician he may be but part of the Chan family he ain't. Looking forward to see you all and Jimmy at the Bent brief, a chilled gig starting about 9pm.
